The next BVI Mountain Bike Club Race will take place on Peter Island
Resort S
unday 31st October.

Peter Island have very kindly agreed to let us ride on the island, this
is a unique opportunity as the Island is usually reserved for paying
guests.

The Elite/Expert circuit starts at the Harbour and follows the road
along to Deadmans Bay, at the Spa we'll turn left onto the loop to
Honeymoon Bay and then up the hill to the scenic loop around south
of the island and back and then a final shorter loop to Honeymoon
bay, half way up the hill and back to the start finish. The Elite/Expert
course will be about 10 miles long.
Click here for a map of the route

The Fun/Novice and Ladies course will do one lap of the shorter loop,
there will be some climbing on the paved road but it will be a relatively
easy climb.

In the Elite race tire choice will an important factor. Parts of the
course are paved, whilst others are dirt and one section is sand. I'd
recommend using nobblies.

Peter Island will  be laying on breakfast for us after the race and have
waived the ferry charge as well.

Registration will take place on the Ferry which departs from the Peter
Island Ferry Dock at the old CSY Dock at Baughers Bay at 7am
sharp, The race should last no longer than 2 hours which should
provide enough time to get back on the 11.30 ferry.

Entry fees of $20 for Club Members/NLSCC Members and BVICF
Members and Peter Island Guests. Prize money will be awarded to the
Top 3 finishers.

As usual we'll need help with a water stop and time keeping so if you
would like to volunteer please let me know by return email or by
calling Mark Smith on 495 1402. All helpers will get breakfast.

The more riders that support this race the better, Peter Island have
made a special committment to host this race and it would great to
gave a big entry.

The 2nd race of the Last Stop Sports BVI Mountain Bike Club 2008
Season is on Sunday 30th March. The Peg Legs Highway Challenge
starts from Peg Legs, Nanny Cay at 8am.

Riders will head out from Nanny Cay, down to West End to
turnaround and head back to Peg Legs via the Round About at
Prospect Reef.

Elite riders will go over the Hill at Towers to rejoin the road at Cox
Heath, then climb RockVille (Pieces of Eight) and Slaney. The
Internmediate Riders will miss out the Hill at Towers and Social Riders
will stay on the flat.

Only the Elite riders will have to ride on the off road sections with all
other riders only riding on paved roads.

Tire choice for the 20 mile elite route will be tricky as the steep climb
at Towers has some loose dirt so slick or invert tires will have traction
problems.
